Being homozygous A1298c…. I was wondering what is your thought on T3 T4 and bioidentical hormones? Thank You so much for providing us with this forum. :-)

Hi Linda –

Feeling like I know you quite well ;)

I like to optimize the thyroid through diet, lifestyle and supporting the adrenals.

I feel that most doctors only address T4 without looking at T3 which is a big issue for me. If one is taking thyroid meds, I feel it should be a blend of T3 and T4.

Bioidentical hormones appear quite safe but to be very honest, I am not the best when it comes to them. I have not spent time studying this beyond what I learned in med school.

As with the thyroid, I prefer to balance hormones through diet and lifestyle rather than supplementing with hormones. At times it is necessary and they definitely have their place (such as estrogen suppositories for vaginal dryness work brilliantly) or bone loss due to low estrogen.
