Stacey

Hi, I went to my doc today for a few different reasons, one was some pretty severe pain that radiates through my bones on bad pain days. Most days now my feet hurt so that I have to shuffle along when I first stand after sitting for long periods. She did bloodwork, and in the meantime gave me medrol to control inflammation. Also suggested vitamin E to calm inflammation in my breast tissue. Do you see any trouble taking medrol or E? I am homozygous C677T. I read that medrol raises homocysteine levels, but I don’t know if that’s true. Thanks!

Stacey –

Vitamin E, as long as it contains mixed tocopherals is excellent to take for those with C677T MTHFR mutations.

Turmeric is outstanding at reducing inflammation – especially if it is in liposomes. Consider taking 2 capsules of Optimal Turmeric twice to three times daily during times of pain.

Why do you have the pain is my question? You taking the right nutrients for C677T MTHFR mutations?

I have not seen any reference saying Medrol increases homocysteine levels. If you find that reference, please do let me know.

I am not a fan of any steroids unless the situation is life threatening – but you are asking a naturopathic physician and getting my honest opinion.

I am wondering if you are taking too much methylfolate?

There are many reasons for pain and many ways to reduce it naturally –

If you’d like to schedule a consult to get to the bottom of it or call 800-547-9812.
