My adult daughter is compound heterozygous 1298C and 677T. Her psychiatrist who claims to be very familiar with MTHFR recently put her on a prescription to elevate her serotonin and dopamine levels. Since Christmastime, she has experienced intense intestinal pain mostly in the upper left colon area. She ended up in the ER for this. When tested nine years ago she was low histamine but had elevated fibrinogen.(436 I believe). I want her to consult with Dr. Ben because after reading his website I am stumped as to where to begin to help her. She is so sensitive to everything and I don’t want an initial negative outcome. The first doctor who tested her put her on so many supplements she was unable to keep up with them. Plus, very expensive. Until she is able to consult, are there any benign treatments that might help her begin to recover? Perhaps probiotics or some of the B’s? Her diet consists now of baby food, blended soups, and fresh juices. She always feels stressed inside and has lots of fatigue, problematic insomnia at times too. I know I need to get tested as well. Her Dad had UC, sclerosing cholangitis and eventually died waiting for a liver translplant at 52. He developed cancer as well. I don’t want to see her go down the same health road and now that we know what may be causing her difficulties I think this is possible. Thank you for any insight and help at this time! PS My elder daughter has the same two markers but experiences completely different difficulties with them. |

Diane- I recommend the doctors check for blood clots in her intestines/stomach area. Microclots can cause some intense pain. If her father had those conditions, the likelihood for her to as well are quite high. I highly recommend she avoid all dairy products and all gluten-containing foods – especially wheat. Apply Castor Oil packs over the entire abdomen twice daily. Probiotics are critical – ProBiota 12 Powder – 1/8th teaspoon after dinner along with 2 capsules of Saccharomyces Boulardii. Have her eat smaller but more frequent meals with some form of protein, chew her meals very well, limit drinking during meals and limit sugar intake. Does the stomach pain ease with antacids? Baking soda? A digestive stool analysis may be in order. |
