How can you explain to your children the importance of being treated with supplementation for A1298c homozygous in layman’s terms!! They are 21 and 25 years old and have suffered with CFS/FMS, anxiety/depression for years. Thank you. |

Linda – First – they have to have the desire to improve their health. If they don’t, then anyone can talk until they are blue in the face and they still won’t take action. That video I posted on my Facebook page about Dr Amen – have them watch that and read Dr Amen’s books – that may help. He’s funny yet serious – a great combination. If they do not address anything for their A1298C homozygous MTHFR mutation, they are unable to effectively produce the chemicals which are needed by the brain to make neurotransmitters. Without neurotransmitters, then all thinking is disordered and messed up. Drugs will not help here because all drugs do is recycle neurotransmitters or slow the breakdown of them. If people are not making their neurotransmitters in the first place – drugs are WORTHLESS. The A1298C homozygous MTHFR mutation also is increasing toxic metabolites in their system – such as peroxynitrite and elevated nitric oxide levels. Dr Martin Pall has done extensive research on these two compounds on how they relate to fibromyalgia. If they do nothing for their A1298C mutation – they are going to get progressively worse to the point they will be unable to move, play sports, or enjoy life at all. Sometimes people have to hit bottom before they want to try and get up. They are denial that it will affect them – but it will if they do nothing. And – from what you tell me – it is already affecting them. You have to understand you cannot instill change in a person. It has to come from within them. Without that desire, people will not change. As a physician, it is one of the hardest things I had to learn. As individuals, your children will likely come around – they just need to feel more pain and get out of the denial stage. I would also tell them that the ability to live a healthy, full life is possible and obtainable if they take action. If they simply take prescription drugs, they will only get worse. Without talking to them directly on the phone, it is tough. I am a very blunt doctor and if people do not want to change, I move to the next person. My door is always open for those who finally commit to change. This is why I ask these three questions first in my consult questionnaire: 2) Are you willing to make significant lifestyle and dietary changes – such as eliminating wheat or dairy from your diet? 3) How committed are you in improving? Obtaining and maintaining health takes work and dedication. If I am not satisfied with those answers, I will not consult with that individual. It is a waste of both our time and their money. I hope this is useful for you – it is not very ‘nice’ but it is honest. |

Thank you Dr. Ben… I like that you are blunt.. I will show them the video. When I am done with the Fibromyalgia protocol I hope to get on a protocol from you. I guess example is the best way to convince them. Neither my mother or father had fibromyalgia or autoimmune problems.. does this mean that they probably both carried one strain of A1298c and I got one from each parent? (both parents are deceased) Thank you Dr. Ben so so much!!!! Thank you. |

I am afraid the video is also way over their head and mine. We need a child’s version explaining MTHFR A1298c mutations (homozygous)… if you ever come across anything I would love to know. Thank you so much!!! |
